Sara Ramirez, famed for their portrayal of Callie Torres on the popular medical series “Grey’s Anatomy,” has reportedly initiated divorce proceedings against Ryan Debolt.

According to documents filed in court, as covered by Entertainment Tonight, the divorce was filed on June 11, 2024, on the grounds of irreconcilable differences after a nine-year marriage.

The duo exchanged vows in a discreet New York City ceremony back in July 2015. Ramirez, who is non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, shared the joyous event on their Twitter, expressing immense joy and excitement about their nuptials, which occurred in the presence of a close-knit group of family and friends.

Over the years, Ramirez and Debolt maintained a low profile regarding their personal life. Nonetheless, Ramirez has been vocal about their mental health challenges and advocacy for significant social causes.

In a major public revelation in 2016 at the True Colors Fund’s 40 to None Summit, an event aimed at tackling LGBTQ youth homelessness, Ramirez came out as bisexual. They highlighted the multiple intersections present in their life, such as being a multi-racial, queer, bisexual woman of Mexican-Irish descent, influenced by a strong Catholic upbringing, which fuels their commitment to organizations like the True Woodesign Colors Executive Vice Fund.

Ramirez bid adieu to “Grey’s Anatomy” in 2016 but has stayed active within the acting realm. They have since taken roles in “Madam Secretary” on CBS, as well as appearances in “Soul,” “Andi Mack,” and “Broad City.”

Details regarding whether Ramirez and Debolt had a prenuptial agreement or if there will be any disputes over assets have not been disclosed. Representatives for Ramirez have also not provided any comments concerning the divorce.
