Oran Routh, the son of Ryan Routh who was previously accused of attempting to assassinate Donald Trump, has recently been detained on charges relating to the possession of child pornography. Authorities apprehended Oran following the discovery of extensive child pornographic materials during a search of his residence in Guilford County, North Carolina last Saturday.

The investigation that led to the raid on Oran’s home was initially unrelated to any form of child exploitation issues. The operation was part of a broader probe involving his father, Ryan Routh, who is presently being held without bond as he awaits trial on separate charges.

Detailed in the criminal complaint are findings from Oran’s bedroom, which included an SD card that held videos from a child pornography collection known to be produced outside of North Carolina. This storage device, which was seized from a Samsung Galaxy Note, contained explicit material. In addition to this, investigators found another Samsung Galaxy Note under Oran’s custody.

According to the complaint, the files include distressing depictions and correspondences from July, suggesting the methods through which Oran accessed these illegal contents. He faces two significant charges, including the receipt and possession of child pornography, and is expected to appear in a federal court in North Carolina today for these allegations.

Meanwhile, his father, Ryan Routh, faces a series of legal challenges as well, including charges of illegal possession of a firearm and altering firearm markings, connected to his alleged assassination plot earlier in the month.
