In a revealing conversation, Kel Mitchell recounted his time working with Dan Schneider on the iconic ’90s sketch comedy show, “All That.” Mitchell described a memorable episode involving Schneider’s outburst and a peculiar closet incident on the set.
Mitchell shared how Schneider, the executive producer of the show, once lost his temper during a rehearsal. “Dan was always high-energy, and at times, that energy could manifest as frustration,” Mitchell said. “I remember this particular occasion when he began to raise his voice during a script run-through. It was somewhat startling, though we understood the immense pressure he was under to deliver a successful show.”
Perhaps the most striking moment that Mitchell remembers is when Schneider isolated himself in a closet on the set. According to Mitchell, “Out of nowhere, Dan stood up, walked over to one of the set’s closets, and shut himself inside. He remained there for several minutes, leaving us all in an uncomfortable silence, unsure of what prompted his actions. When he finally stepped out, we just resumed our rehearsal as if nothing had happened.”
Despite these challenging moments, Mitchell spoke highly of Schneider, acknowledging the significant impact he had on his early career. “I owe a lot to Dan for the roles and opportunities he provided me with,” Mitchell stated. “Although we experienced some tense times, the knowledge and experiences I gained from working with him on ‘All All That’ are invaluable.”
Schneider, known for other successful projects like “Kenan & Kel,” “The Amanda Show,” and “Drake & Josh,” has been the subject of various misconduct allegations over the years. Nonetheless, Mitchell’s reflections offer a nuanced view of Schneider, depicting him as a pivotal, albeit occasionally volatile, figure in nurturing young talent in the entertainment industry.
