James Earl Jones, the esteemed actor whose voice was instantly recognizable across the entertainment industry, has died at the age of 93. His passing occurred on Monday morning in his home in upstate New York, in the presence of his loved ones.

With a career spanning several decades, Jones was celebrated for his work in theater, television, and film. He is perhaps best known for his powerful and intimidating portrayal of Darth Vader in the ‘Star Wars’ series, and for voicing Mufasa in Disney’s original ‘The Lion King.’

Jones’s film career began with a notable role in the 1964 Stanley Kubrick movie ‘Dr. Strangelove.’ Over the years, he delivered several standout performances in films such as ‘Field of Dreams,’ ‘Conan the Barbarian,’ ‘Coming to America,’ ‘The Sandlot,’ and in the Jack Ryan films ‘The Hunt for Red October’ and ‘Patriot Games.’

In addition to his illustrious film career, Jones served in the United States Army as part of the 75th Rangers Regiment.
