J.D. Vance, famed for his memoir “Hillbilly Elegy,” experienced a frightening moment during a flight to an event when his aircraft was compelled to perform an emergency landing due to mechanical problems.
Vance was en route to an engagement in New York City when smoke began accumulating in the plane’s cabin, leading the pilot to quickly decide to land in North Carolina.
Emergency crews were on standby and quickly attended to the situation upon landing. Miraculously, neither Vance nor any other passengers were injured.
Following this alarming experience, Vance publicly recounted the event on Twitter, extending his thanks to the flight crew and emergency personnel.
“Just experienced an emergency landing. Engine failure, cabin filled with smoke. The pilot and the first responders were exceptional. I’m safe,” Vance posted on Twitter.
The investigation into the incident is currently being conducted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The specifics of what led to the engine malfunction and cabin smoke are still being determined.
Following this ordeal, Vance was able to continue to his New York City event, where he engaged in promoting his newest literary work.
