Pras Michel, from the legendary hip-hop trio Fugees, has declared the official cancellation of their highly anticipated reunion tour. This decision follows extensive planning and repeated scheduling difficulties, mainly due to Lauryn Hill’s habitual lateness to shows.
Composed of Pras, Hill, and Wyclef Jean, the Fugees were ready to launch their first tour in 15 years, planning stops throughout the United States and Europe. Unfortunately, continued problems with Hill’s timeliness have ultimately led to the abandonment of the tour.
In a heartfelt statement, Pras shared, “It is with a heavy heart that I announce the cancellation of the Fugees’ reunion tour. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to coordinate schedules that would allow all three original members to participate.”
He elaborated, “Lauryn’s repeated delays and her inability to stick to a set timetable have rendered it impossible for us to proceed with the tour. I offer my sincere apologies to our fans who were eagerly anticipating this reunion as much as we were.”
Hill has a notable record of being late to her performances, with explanations ranging from traffic delays to sound system issues and personal reasons. Her consistent tardiness has been a source of growing irritation for her bandmates.
Pras and Wyclef had remained hopeful about overcoming these challenges to make the tour a success. However, they were unable to devise a feasible solution.
Wyclef also expressed his sadness over the situation via social media, stating, “I’m heartbroken that we won’t be able to share the Fugees’ music with our fans this year. We had grand visions for this tour, and I was excited about performing with my brothers once again.”
He added, “Unfortunately, we couldn’t make it happen this time. I hold onto hope that, in the future, we can reunite once more.”
Ticket holders for the Fugees’ reunion tour can obtain refunds where they made their original purchases.
While Pras and Wyclef are open to future collaborations, for the time being, the Fugees’ reunion tour will not proceed.
