Frank Fritz, the cherished co-host of “American Pickers” on the History Channel, has died at the age of 60. His death was announced by his former co-host, Mike Wolfe, via a social media post.

The official death certificate states that Frank passed away due to complications following a stroke, medically termed as “late sequela of cerebral infarction”. This was a consequence of cerebral vascular disease, which involves issues with the blood vessels in the brain. Frank had also been battling with aortic stenosis, which impedes blood flow from the heart, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), both of which contributed to his demise.

Frank was born in Davenport, Iowa and rose to fame on “American Pickers,” a reality show where he and Mike Wolfe scoured the country for rare artifacts, reviving forgotten pieces of history to sell in their antique shops in Iowa and Tennessee. The show not only became a beloved fixture of American television for over a decade but also showcased Frank’s love for vintage motorcycles and bicycles. His keen eye for the undiscovered made him a favored personality on the show, celebrated for his lively character and relentless enthusiasm.

Frank’s time on “American Pickers” began many years before his departure in March 2020, due to back surgery. Despite his hopes to return, it was later disclosed in July 2021 that he would be replaced by Mike Wolfe’s brother, Rob. Nonetheless, Frank’s legacy persisted in the antique and collectible spheres, where he remained active behind the scenes.

A severe stroke in 2022 marked a serious decline in Frank’s health, eventually leading to him being placed under temporary guardianship. Struggling with lasting health issues from the stroke, his life took a pivotal turn.

Passing away on September 30, 2024, Frank’s death was a significant loss to his fans and colleagues. Mike Wolfe expressed his sorrow online: “I’ve known Frank for more than half my life, and what you’ve seen on TV has always been what I have seen—a dreamer who was just as sensitive as he was funny. He had an innate ability to connect with viewers by being genuinely himself.” Mike reminisced about their shared memories and travels, pretending adventures in a white cargo van, exploring unknown territories driven by their shared love of discovery.

Frank Fritz’s influence extends well past “American Pickers.” He touched many with his vibrant passion for exploration and his interpersonal connections. His legacy is remembered through his unique findings and the emotional bonds he created.

While Frank is no longer with us, his significant contribution to the antique world and his dynamic personality will continue to encourage new generations of explorers and collectors. His life story is a poignant reminder of how a dedicated spirit can steadfastly leave a mark on the world, inspiring others long after their departure.
