Barstool Sports creator Dave Portnoy has swiftly come to the defense of Taylor Swift following an indirect critique by Foo Fighters lead Dave Grohl.

Grohl, in a conversation about his band’s musical philosophy, seemed to slight Swift as he explained their purpose isn’t to cater to a broad audience. “We don’t make music for the masses,” Grohl stated. “Our music isn’t crafted to sell millions of copies.”

Although Swift’s name wasn’t explicitly mentioned by Grohl, the context led many followers to believe he was targeting the globally celebrated singer, renowned for her chart-topping music.

Responding to the situation, Portnoy publicly supported Swift on Twitter, applauding her skills and achievements. “Taylor Swift is a badass. She writes her own songs, plays multiple instruments, and boasts a level of talent and success many musicians only aspire to. Don’t @ me with your attempts to degrade her.”

He also expressed disapproval of Grohl’s comments, suggesting, “And Dave, maybe avoid belittling other artists to boost your own ego. It’s uncool and detracts from your status as a rock icon.”

Swift has yet to address Grohl’s implied criticism or Portnoy’s comments publicly.

Swift has previously been the target of criticism by other prominent figures in the music industry such as Kanye West, Katy Perry, and Justin Bieber, but she has consistently maintained professionalism and poise in her responses.

Regardless of such criticisms, Swift’s career continues to flourish. Her recent album, “Lover,” launched at the top of the Billboard 200 chart and has received accolades from critics and fans alike.

It’s unclear if Grohl will acknowledge Portnoy’s rebuke, but one thing remains constant: Swift’s fanbase stands firmly behind her, ready to support her through any controversy.
