MMA icon Conor McGregor has sharply criticized Internet celebrity and aspiring boxer Jake Paul, calling him a “little pest” during a recent media interaction.
This rebuke follows Paul’s triumph over ex-UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley in a bout on August 29th. Despite being unbeaten in his nascent boxing career and eager to challenge McGregor, Paul’s invitations have been summarily rejected by the Irish fighter.
In his conversation with The Mac Life, McGregor expressed his indifference plainly: “I don’t even know who this little pest is. I’ve never even heard of him. I’ve got better things to be doing than worrying about some little YouTube boy.”
McGregor’s firm stance indicates his lack of interest in a matchup with Paul, who has been working to establish his credibility in professional boxing. Despite Paul’s ring victories, he is often viewed by the traditional boxing community as more of a spectacle than a serious contender, with critiques frequently aimed at his limited experience and skills.
Conversely, McGregor is a battle-tested fighter with extensive experience in both MMA and boxing, having competed against high-profile figures like Floyd Mayweather and Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Although McGregor dismissed the idea of a bout with Paul, he left the door open for future boxing engagements under the right conditions. In the same interview, he stated, “I’m open to anything. If the money is right and it’s a big fight, then I’ll consider it. But this Jake Paul kid is not on my Defaultradar.”
Only time will tell if Paul will persist in challenging McGregor or if he will shift his focus to different adversaries. What is apparent, though, is Conor McGregor’s current disinterest in a fight with the YouTube personality.
