In Colorado, the house where Chris Watts infamously murdered his wife and two daughters remains unsold, despite numerous price reductions. This five-bedroom property in Frederick, Colorado, gained further notoriety after being featured in the 2020 Netflix documentary “American Murder: The Family Next Door.”

The property listing on Zillow shows that it has been on the market for 156 days. Recently, real estate agents dropped the price to $699,000, marking the fourth reduction in asking price. Originally bought out of foreclosure following the tragic events of 2018, the current owner paid $600,000 and has been attempting to sell it since April.

Initially listed in April at $775,000, the price was soon lowered to $750,000, and then again to $749,000 at the end of May. By July, another price drop brought it down to $724,000. Although there was an offer in early July, it did not go through.

The gruesome history associated with the house might be deterring potential buyers. Chris Watts, who confessed to the murders of his wife Shanann and their daughters, Bella and Celeste, is currently serving five life sentences. This house joins other infamous properties like the JonBenét Ramsey house and the Menendez brothers’ mansion, which have also been put on the market.

The real estate agents have emphasized the property’s features, such as a new roof, fresh exterior paint, and a covered porch, in an attempt to attract buyers. Despite being over a decade old and located near parks, restaurants, and good schools, the dark past of the house overshadows these attributes.

No comments have been made by the realtors when contacted for a statement. The listing tactfully omits mention of the murders, as disclosure is not mandated by state law, instead choosing to focus on the property’s advantages. Whether these efforts will pay off and lead to a successful sale remains uncertain as the property continues to search for a new owner.
