Caitlin Clark, the standout guard for the Indiana Fever who recently set a new record for the most points scored by a WNBA rookie, has reasons to celebrate alongside her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, who just secured a pivotal coaching position at Butler University.

On Monday, the university declared that they have brought on McCaffery as an assistant coach for their men’s basketball team. Having formerly contributed to the Indiana Pacers, this role at Butler represents a significant step forward in his coaching career. McCaffery has consistently been a source of support for Clark, equally supporting each other’s professional endeavors.

The pair, who began their relationship at the University of Iowa while both were active in basketball, have continuously rooted for each other. Clark shared a warm congratulatory message on Instagram to celebrate McCaffery’s new coaching role, expressing her excitement and encouragement.

“Yayyy!!! So happy for you ❤️,” wrote Clark.

Since their time at Iowa, both have been involved in each other’s professional lives, with McCaffery assisting Clark in refining her shooting skills at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, and Clark attending his Pacers games, demonstrating their mutual support that has underlined the success of their relationship.

Replacing Greg Oden, who was part of Butler’s coaching staff for two seasons, McCaffery steps into his new shoes. Thad Matta, the head coach at Butler, commented positively on McCaffery’s previous experiences, emphasizing that his time as a player and his tenure with the Pacers have equipped him well for this new role.

“Following a high-level playing career, Connor has had the opportunity to both contribute and learn alongside one of the best staffs in the NBA,” Matta remarked. “Those experiences will be very valuable to our staff. He obviously comes from a basketball family that I know very well and I’m excited for the impact he is going to have on our program both quickly and in the long run.”

McCaffery’s commitment and hard work have paved the way for this new career opportunity, and Clark is overjoyed to see his progress. Their mutual love for basketball not only strengthens their relationship but also enhances these significant achievements in their careers, making this moment distinctively meaningful for both.
